Shiny new @PINE64 Pinecil soldering iron arrived. I also picked up an array of tips and a nice USB power supply. Will take some time to get used to the UI on there but from a quick test it's pretty easy to run.

Only negative so far is that the tips are not labeled at all which makes them hard to tell apart without inspecting the ends.

Anyone happen to know if it's safe to label them in some way (e.g. scribing)?

Also need to find or make a case.

Remeber folk, tin your soldering iron tips. Also if your considering getting into soldering and haven't, do yourself a massive favour and get a microscope and helping hands, as well as brass tip cleaner, flux, solder wick or a solder sucker, and a tempture controlable soldering iron/station, my recomendation is a #Pinecil from @PINE64 it's light and portable, and open hardware. and the most important thing, a carbon filter fume extractor, look after your health.

Just upgraded my #Pinecil and now it has bluetooth. That means, with the help of an esp32 and @esphome , I can connect it to my favorite tool: @homeassistant :D
Don't know why it's useful (yet) but it's definitely super cool!

Imagine, an open source soldering iron with bluetooth that exposes a webinterface which shows you telemetry data of the temperature and power consumption(more features planned). I just viewed the @PINE64 december update which showcases the #Pinecil V2 Running on a RISC-V https://youtu.be/WvG2jUS6n_s . To bad i already own a #TS100 ..
