I just finished riding the #empirestatetrail for 500+ miles with nothing except some soap on the belt on morning to stop a bit of squeeking.

The low end is very low compared to my other bike. The shift-from-any-gear-to-any-gear instantly, stopped or moving is a feature for me. You can't be tentative when you do shift, but it was easy for me to get used to.
