@JessiCum @B_Whitewind I know how LCDs work and I prefer transflective panels where "light mode" makes sense by using the surrounding light [ie. #PixelQi & #Mirasol] but when it comes to readability - regardless if projection on a surface, tansparent HUD or screen, Dark Mode works better and doesn't strain eyes that hard.
I literally have self-tinting glasses due to being susceptible to bright lights, tho that only works with UV radiation and thus not with any montors at all!!!
@theresnotime @TechConnectify Remember #PixelQi?
They made some #transflective screens but sadly #3M bought up the entire company and now hoards the tech and won't even sell people screens...
@ronsboy67 @HepCatJack @LadyOzma @bookstodon @ladymondegreen @evanpeterjones *nodds in agreement* tri- or even heptachromatic #eInk screens are still scarce and unless one optimizes the display routine or the file itself to use only the available colours, dithering occurs...
Not to mention that eInk was never intended for anywhing beyond crisp text. #Mirasol and espechally #PixelQi do images far better...
#transflective screens are (were) great!
I still have my XO-1 from the #OLPC program (give one, get one) and for a few years - not recently - it was my preferred laptop for the garden.
But I see #pixelQI didn't make it...

"Ignore talk of "mono and color modes", and of screen resolutions other than 1200x900. We named things poorly, and immense confusion has resulted."
