It's been several years, but I just recently picked my old Google #Pixelbook back up (the OG, aluminum body one). Still a great little machine. Performance is surprisingly still very snappy and battery life is floating at around 5+ hours despite it being 6 years old.

I've never owned a #MacBook before, but I can't find anything that is comparable to my #Pixelbook (2017)... The closest product I can find is the MacBook Air.

Rather than spending that kind of money though, I decided to buy refurbished. I found a 15" MacBook Pro unibody (MD103LL/A) for $150. I figure this will be a nice way for me to get acquainted with Mac... And if I don't like the experience I'm not out of pocket very much and I have hardware that should run fine with #Linux.

Decided I would switch my shell on my #Pixelbook to #zsh as well. It was kind of cool to copy over my own configuration... I did install oh-my-zsh, but haven't decided which plugins I want to use on here. Might also start using #neovim more.

@kevinctofel I get a #Pixel Pad is on the way (as a #nest hub?) but please #Google make another #PixelBook! Mine is getting pretty old, but is still stellar: GREAT battery life, great performance, super light, super small, runs apps & Chrome obvs ... it might be the best consumer surfing #laptop made.

I dunno, maybe I should give other devices like this HP thing a try ...

One thing I do wish Google had done this year is to bring its focus back on the tablet market, especially the compact tablet market. There are a plenty of third-party Chromebooks available today, from small to large, but very little choice when it comes to Android tablets.

@kevinctofel Nice, I hadn't noticed that either, though I only have #chromeos v108 on my Lenovo Duet, it has surprisingly not yet come to my #Google #Pixelbook Go. J

Here's an old post I found talking about how #Chrome extensions make a high performance #chromebook a huge #web based powerhouse. I bet the author never expected stuff like Web Share APIs and #PWAs to make extensions less of a requirement but it is so cool that this old article gave us a glimpse of the future a while back.

@thestrangelet I used the original #Pixelbook as my primary dev machine for a year. It was wonderful. I think the only thing I'd miss at this point is #bravebrowser.
