Checking htop on #footiMac after two weeks of operations with its upgraded resources, and new responsibilities.
It is still far more responsive in all respects. Changes I've noticed:
1) very few web response delays for Mastodon retrieving posts/notifications or uploading pictures/videos.
2) when I logged in remotely before it would take a few seconds. Now it is nearly instant.
3) according to htop the loads are below 0.70 most of the time.
4) RAM usage has gone from 3.2GB (84%) to 6.3GB (40%)

Anyone have any trouble running Mastodon and/or Pixelfed on Debian 12 Bookworm? I'm considering updating my system from Debian 11. #selfhost #selfhosted #mastoadmin #pixelfedAdmin

Hey guess what! I made my own Pixelfed server! Federating is always a challemge on your own so If you are on pixelfed I would really really appreciate you finding me and following. If you're not on pixelfed but would still like to help my new instance federate, please boost so I can find more #pixelfed people!
I am @chris@pixelfed.chrisalemany.ca
Thanks!

OOooohhhh Ya. Add another feather in #footiMac's cap. Now running both Mastodon and Pixelfed.
We'll see how these co-exist!

Help! #PixelFed #PixelfedAdmin #Debian #Linux #NGinx #php
I've got all the processes running for pixelfed *except*, when I try to connect to the website I am getting a socket error:
connect() to unix:/var/run/php/php8.1-fpm.sock
The socket should be, according to my settings in /etc/php/8.2/fpm/pool.d/pixelfed.conf :
/run/php/pixelfed.sock
But it doesn't seem to be honouring it and I canβt figure out where that incorrect socket setting is coming from.
Anyone out there have any ideas?

Looking through the install procedure, the one big conflict that I see potentially is REDIS. I don't believe Mastodon required any changes to the REDIS configuration, but Pixelfed is asking for it to be run on a socket rather than a network connection.
This feels like it could break Mastodon. #selfhosted #pixelfed #mastodon #mastoAdmin #pixelfedAdmin

Looking for #Pixelfed admins and definitive #PixelfedAdmin reddit to advise me on some self-hosted Pixelfed installation issues. Any advice or who/where would be much appreciated.
Update: Dan suggested the Pixelfed matrix and discord.

Secondly, I've made a small docker container which automatically generates SSL certs, and then forwards the traffic to any other container for processing. (Also called a reverse proxy)
You can use this with any existing setup and never have to deal with SSL certs again.
It supports multiple domains if you're like me and have one webserver that routes multiple websites
The README has an example docker-compose.yml to get you started
Hey everyone! Back from holidays with a few goodies:
First, I've created a small repository to generate customized pixelfed docker images. Both the apache and php-fpm variants are supported. You can use mine directly, e.g. with `docker pull ghcr.io/intentionally-left-nil/pixelfed-fpm:latest` or :alpha to get the dev version.
It's also super simple to fork my repository, and manage the builds yourselves:

Storj DCS isn't suitable for Pixelfed or Mastodon instances because of the segment limit.
Also the pricing is pretty complicated π..
Now I want to migrate to Scaleway. Any thoughts?

Just fired up my own @pixelfed instance. It seems the instagram import feature is different than what is on https://pixelfed.social π€? (Same version, v0.11.8) #pixelfed #pixelfedadmin #instagramImport

Any Pixelfed admins here who successfully use #Contabo #S3Storage for their instance?
#pixelfed #pixelfedadmin #contabo #s3storage
Another Example: This Post https://milliways.social/@mcfly/110213254930627351 is clearly visible from Mastodon, I see it in the Horizon Queue in Pixelfed but it just is not there as you can see here: https://pixelfed.jascha.wtf/p/jascha/553495719516459048
Anyone any idea what is going wrong? #mastoadmin #pixelfedadmin
Heya #Mastoadmin and #pixelfedadmin all over here! I recognize a strange thing: A reply to a Pixelfed-Post from Mastodon is clearly visible on Mastodon (https://toot.jascha.wtf/@QueerPinata@strangeobject.space/110212790719112464) but it does not make it to the pixelfed instance. I just find nothing in Logs. What should and could I do to debug this?
Do I really need #S3Storage to store remote avatars? Is is not possible to store them locally?
#pixelfedadmin #pixelfed #s3storage
#FediHelp #Pixelfed #PixelfedAdmin #S3Storage
I have configured Pixelfed with S3 storage support. S3 storage provider is #Contabo .
New images are uploaded to the S3 bucket (and also stored locally), but Pixelfed can't show them ("No preview available"). Firefox' network monitor reports a HTML status 401 ("Unauthorized").
My S3 configuration:
PF_ENABLE_CLOUD="true"
FILESYSTEM_CLOUD="s3"
FILESYSTEM_DRIVER="s3"
AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID="<access_key>"
AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY="<secret_key>"
AWS_DEFAULT_REGION="EU"
AWS_BUCKET="<bucket_name>"
AWS_URL="https://eu2.contabostorage.com/<bucket-name>/"
AWS_ENDPOINT="https://eu2.contabostorage.com"
AWS_USE_PATH_STYLE_ENDPOINT="true"
Anyone who know what's wrong with my configuration?
