It's #PizzaPalooza VII, and we're trying a couple new aspects.
1. A recipe adapted from this video with a 6-hour room-temp rise:

2. Smoked scamorza cheese on two of the three pies. I loved it, @Regensbloggerin preferred the low-moisture mozzarella.
3. Going heavy on the sauce on the third pie.
#PizzaPalooza VI rolls on with leftover meatballs and sliced mushrooms as a topping. Got the left side a little overdone. Still tasty!
I did NOT forget the cheese for #PizzaPalooza V: fresh buffalo mozzarella on one, low-moisture cow mozz shreds with loos sausage and mushrooms on the other.
Both were delicious.
#PizzaPalooza IV brings two pies: both were supposed to have the same toppings, but I forgot the cheese on the #calzone. Still tasty, just less stretchy. Pepperoni, ham and artichoke hearts.
Everything cooked just fine and was thoroughly delicious. But our IR thermometer never read higher than about 310°C. Was hoping for north of 4. Today had the highest ambient temps we've had in a long time.
I wonder if our thermometer is kaputt.
Day 3 of #PizzaPalooza - #GarlicBread edition! We baked three discs and I'm pleased to report:
1. *nothing* burned. I'm making progress.
2. everything cooked nicely through, despite ostensibly low ambient temps outside and the sub-optimal readings on our IR thermometer gun.
3. I got the crusts thinner than on previous attempts, and nothing tore or had to presented as a "recovery calzone."
4. That red sauce was leftover and there's still more!
@mfeilner I'm treating it like a subject line. If someone doesn't care about #Flammkuchen or #PizzaPalooza, I would hate to waste their time.

Progress! Nothing caught fire. I wonder if the pie should have been two smaller ones and the baking temperature lower to make sure it all got crispy. You can see those leeks didn't get cooked very much (lardons were pan-fried a little in advance). The texture around the outside was great; would have enjoyed a little of that more through the center as well.
Now where's my Gewürztraminer?
