"The team worked with #polylactic acid, or #PLA, which has been used in packaging for over a decade. Instead of #petroleum (like typical plastic), it uses plant sugars and breaks down into water, carbon dioxide and lactic acid.

"But PLA can only break down in the heat of industrial #composters, not home composters. Even in industrial composters, PLA doesn't always break down quickly or completely.

"It can take as much as 20 days before PLA starts to be digested by microbes in an industrial compost setting, researchers said.

"To accelerate this process, the team incorporated what's called a 'thermoplastic starch' into PLA. This carbon-based starch helps the microbes in compost more easily break down the bioplastic.

"Adding the thermoplastic starch will not compromise the quality of PLA, such as the strength, clarity and other desirable features, researchers said in the release.

"Additionally, the bioplastic can be composted alongside food scraps. That means you wouldn't have to rinse food out of takeaway containers or coffee out of a disposable cup before throwing it out."

Any tips on how to make a water-tight PLA print?

I want to make clear vases for my orchids, but PETG is a PITA! We are beginners with it, and it has sputtered and lumped so much, the vase is hardly see-through.

With clear(ish) PLA, it works... kind of... except that it leaks. The print is whole.. but it leaks!

To enable seeing water level and how much gunk has accumulated, I need to see, but not necessarily perfectly. 2-3 mm walls are okay - but... they LEAK! -grin-

PLA 不是塑料，PLA又稱為聚乳酸，是由植物澱粉所製造成的塑料，不同於傳統塑膠，他的來源是可再生資源如玉米澱粉，也造就了其可被生物利用分解的特性。大部分的傳統塑膠來自不可再生的石油和天然氣的蒸餾聚合。而源自生物質（例如PLA）的塑料被稱為“ 生物塑料”。

PLA要能分解需要「高溫、濕度、微生物、含氧」的土壤，通常一般生活周遭的土壤不易達成分解所需的高溫條件，且PLA的物性會對其他可回收的塑膠製品物性造成負面的影響，根據BPI網站的資料，如果無法達成生物可分解的訴求，此機構建議將相關產品丟入垃圾桶。

環保署於 2023 年 2 月 3 日預告：8 月起八大場所禁用 PLA 材質的免洗餐具，為源頭減塑跨出一步，不過若要確實減塑，積極推廣「重複使用」才是解決方案。

honestly I don't think I enjoyed this a lot
main emotions where "whathever" and angry.
hated the controls scheme (maybe because I suck at it) and the frenetic pace when trying to catch pokemon, and hated the combat system.
I guess this was just not for me.
after this I may try some more luck at the ladder in sv (maybe just will try casual), i hope this time tyranitar can be of more use.
or maybe I'll try lgpe, or some fangame
