I see people post who define themselves by an illness, gender, orientation, etc. No complaints on my part for that.
But sometimes that defining stuff is more in the way than it is useful. Many times we cannot see the inner struggle someone else has, and even then there are many people who cannot relate to that any better than "I'm having a bad day and I need x"
I have wondered for myself how much I'm letting the idea of autism consume who I am.
I don't really respect psychology a whole lot, but they do very decent pattern recognition.
I was speaking with someone in alternative healing about medical stuff, they use the diagnostics of medicine to find root causes more easily, but then treat themselves in their own way with their own methods.
I've been thinking about whether I'm leaning too much on the #actuallyautistic notion versus #plain-old-me (made that one up) and knowing that I gotta be kind to myself at these certain points in life and guide myself around them if possible.
The self-diagnosis has been very useful, but do I gotta carry it around for life or can I carry the abridged version along with some learned navigation skills to keep myself out of "spots".
I'm saying this as an extension of my way of dealing with other isms: When someone says "women do that" or "men do that" or it could be a nationality, race, religion, etc., I replace that precise word with "people".
People do that. Some people of every type do that. Some don't. Some do on certain bad days.
Whatever that is, people of all types will do it.
So I'm working toward being a people again after being an autist for a while. I'll tell people that I was using a Jersey accent when I said it before.😀

1363 followers · 1283 posts · Server dataprotection.socialQuestion for ye: My typical pattern and practice when drafting a #privacy notice or statement is to provide a user-friendly definition of the various relevant bits (lawful basis, transfers, data subject rights, etc.) but to omit citations (so, I'd explain 'legitimate interest' as a basis, but not include Article 6(1)(f), or Right of Access w/o citing Article 15).
A client was curious if this was 'allowed' or if citations must be included.
In light of #Article12's obligations to provide notice in a ' concise, transparent, #intelligible and easily accessible form, using #clear and #plain language", along with recent decisions and the WP 29 guidance, I find citations to be too lawyerly for most, and to add to what are often already bloated policies.
What do you think? Am I missing guidance somewhere? Is it different by jurisdiction (client is based in Germany, and I profess, sometimes I miss guidance coming from the myriad DPAs).
