What is Danielle painting? 🤔 Danielle is painting MARS. (Specifically, a HiRise image of amazing folded geological rock formations on Mars. See last post. This is the underpainting.)

(Where has Danielle been?!? Danielle was working nine days straight. 😵‍💫)

Serendipity, Mars style.

' “The wave ripples, debris flows, and rhythmic layers all tell us that the story of wet-to-dry on Mars wasn’t simple,” [Curiousity project scientist Ashwin] Vasavada said. “Mars’ ancient climate had a wonderful complexity to it, much like Earth’s.” '

Planets capable of hosting life may form more often than scientists had believed.

' The findings, based on painstaking chemical analysis of meteorites, imply that planet-forming disks around other stars ... should be well-stocked with the makings of wet, rocky planets that might be hospitable to life. '

More volcanoes than you can shake the proverbial stick at.

Jupiter's moon Io is the most geologically active body in the Solar System, with volcanoes that send sufurous plumes up to 300 mi/500 km above its surface. Io's volcanism is due to tidal friction in its interior caused by the interacting gravitational pulls of Jupiter and the giant planet's three other large moons.
