Wenn ich etwas überhaupt nicht mag, dann ist es „Gräser bestimmen“. Dabei sind wir vom Gedeihen der #Gräser hochgradig abhängig. Weizen, Roggen, Hafer, Gerste – Mehl, Brot und Bier; alles für die Ernährung.

Bevor ich mich durch einschlägige Bücher quäle, nutze ich Bestimmungsapps auf dem Smartphone: #PlantNet, #FloraIncognita oder #Obsidentify; falls die Vögel zwitschern und singen: #BirdNET.

Hello #gardening #plants #florespondence friends - spotted this plant on a walk and am having trouble ID'ing it. Fairly certain it belongs to the Lamiaceae family, and #PlantNet says it thinks it is spearmint (with 13% certainty, anyway...), but I've never seen a variegated variety before.

Spotted on the Canadian prairies in CDN hardiness zone 3b/4a, but in a well-kept yard, so may not be native to here.

Can someone #ID this plant?

with Opuntia ficus indica (seedling), Psidium guajava & Physalis peruviana
PN
- bit more complicated handling
+ Opuntia ficus was not first in list, but a suggestion
FI
+ no selection of area needed
- no recognition of Opuntia seedling

Both
+ I'm in #zone7 in northern 🇩🇪 and tried the software on exotics. Well done. I'll keep both of them on my mobile for cross checking.

Learned the name of this fella from my #PlantNet app: bear's breeches.

It's not banned yet but based on what I've read either should be or soon will be, apparently it's tenacious.

And also sounds like a hokey stereotypical exclamation: "Well, ain't that the bear's breeches?!"
