Now that we’re back home, I’m doing a little more research.

According to the clerk of court’s website, the courthouse was intentionally burned back in January of 2002. Interestingly, most of the documents from the courthouse were saved and moved elsewhere at that time, which actually likely saved them from destruction in 2005 when #HurricaneKatrina put much of the rest of the parish under 15 feet of water.
