What was the official term or name used to refer to the fourth major version of the KDE community's desktop environment at that time? (I'm not asking for the name used around or after Plasma 5's release).

@davidlars Hiya. oS TW gave me a superb Plasma5 experience; to me as a fussy end-user it was really clear how their Devs treating Plasma as a first-class citizen paid dividends. Otoh, the never-absent PITA of #DependencyHell drove me away from TW [someone else here recently suggested oS MicroOS, which i'm testing in a VM & so far seems pretty nice].

After TW i ran MJ Plasma for 3yrs; another excellent #Plasma5 ... but non-P MJ crap drove me away, to Arch Plasma, which is superb.

Whilst Plasma 5.27.1 is nice in many respects, tiresomely it has now re-broken my Conkies' semi-transparency. Sigh.

KDE4 was good friends with Conky. Plasma5, for all its many otherwise fab aspects, has had a very tense relationship with Conky, & some dot-versions have been most unfriendly.

I switched long ago from #mint with #mate (I loved #compiz effects) and moved to #manjarokde with #plasma5. I have to say that the distro and the desktop environment are really satisfying. However, it depends for every user, I guess. There is a single thing from Compiz effects that drew me back to Mint several times in the past: the ability to control window brightness individually, independent from the screen brightness. It was simply awesome for my eyes. I really miss that feature!

It's gone so far that today was the end of #kde #plasma5 for my part, it don't work in a multi session (one seat) setup, session that isn't active starts to hog memory so that you run out of it, if you are lucky you get #kswapd to go crazy before run out of RAM and your computer is completely unusable and abandoned my ticket at bugs.kde.org 😿

After using #kde exclusively for at least 10 years now I decided to give #xfce a try on one workstation. #plasma works ok with me but I am a little annoyed with the #akonadi backend. I hoped so much they will get rid of it in #Plasma5
I used XFCE before but preferred the customization of KDE and the looks of #QT We will see how it goes. right now I am playing around with #evolution email. It's sad how #mozilla let #thunderbird rot to a state it's no fun to use anymore. I was using #kontact before and very happy with it's functionality. But the backend...

I like the style of #kde, I'm using #plasma5 with #ubuntustudio, but there are serious problems with key apps like Konqueror Dolphin that have me grafting badly integrated gnome replacements.

For example, to play a media file from and sftp link, kde apps copy the file locally, Nautilus gives the url to the app. KTorrent does not appear to accept urls, and gives no confirmation accepting copy/paste urls. Gnome apps, on plasma are ugly, teeny fonted, but get the job done.

Ich versuche in #opensuse mit #Plasma5 auf #wayland umzustellen. Nach ein paar Tagen fällt er aber immer wieder auf #x11 zurück - Kann man das nicht Standard machen?

One of the biggest time sinks I've run into so far in transitioning from macOS to Linux has been fine-tuning input response curves. Given enough time I'll get used to most of it but so far I *really* miss universal support for momentum/inertial/kinetic scrolling in my window manager (#kde #plasma5).

В режиме гибридного сна ноут будет продолжать разряжаться, т.к. подаётся питание на ОЗУ, это понятно. Но вот эта галка, что гибернейт после некого периода неактивности. Перейдёт ли ноут из гибридного сна в полную гибернизацию (то есть просто перестанет подавать напряжаение на некоторе компоненты и всё) при такой настройке? Если да, то через сколько?
