Needed a way to put more info into a line of text with my #playWriting project, things like font colors and comments, to keep track of what was in progress what I needed to make sure I referred to later, etc. Ended up switching over to microsoft word, which I haven't used since I was in school. Overall, I'm surprised how much I do like using this for writing. It doesn't always behave as well with links around different documents in the same folder, and I have *NO IDEA!* how that is going to work when it comes time to export this, but it is working well enough for now.

Gonna play some #hearthstone today, in addition to the #playWriting. We are now over 1000 words. 👨‍🚀👩‍🚀🚀

853 words now. drinking coffee and listening to music and just #playWriting. To me, that means writing largely for discovery, or more 'fun' than the intent to tell a careful or thoughtful story. I need to make more time for that kind of writing, and the thing that is honestly surprising me is how much I *am* enjoying the story in general, largely absent much intent to actually *structure* it. Our brains are wired for story. We are almost pre-ordaned to find story in any sequence of events. Seriously. Just try it. Try to write something truly disconnected and see how long you can dco it. You might be surprised what kinds of persistent elements come up in these exercises. Sometimes, we call that 'theme.' and in turn notice how much of a story you do have to tell arises from our tendency to order and create meaning from events. Now, obviously, story is more than that. But when you're having trouble connecting to any sort of creative energy, that's not a bad place to start as an in to a new story. This is getting long, but I'm glad to have a place to do #writing Rambles. Feel free to mute those hashtags if they're not your cup of tea.

I figured out (at least for the moment) the source of that buzzing excitement when reading a script draft that I’m really proud of. It’s nice to have positive feedback, but the excitement comes from knowing I am successfully saying WHAT I WANT TO SAY. Whether anyone ever produced this, I am succeeding and god damn it feels good. #amwriting #playwriting #screenwriting
