Here's a blog post I wrote about how I got the idea for the app and the challenges (and rewards) of its development.
A little birdie told me that there are new rain and snow images in version 1.11 that is rolling out today!
Version 1.11 is rolling out now.
It contains a brand new widget!
If you're watching today's weather but the only rain for today was at 2AM you might not care.
If you have an upcoming morning event you might not care if the only rain for that day starts at 10PM.
The "Next Hour" widget shows you the next hour on your selected day that could be affected by precipitation. The symbol next to the hour indicates that this is an hour in the future.
Version 1.8 was approved this morning!
It adds UV Index, sunrise, and sunset that will appear in the app for your selected day if they're available.
There's many changes to the UI and the German localization was improved.
Several VoiceOver improvements were made as well as some changes to the main UI when the largest accessibility text sizes are in use.
Version 1.7 of @PleaseDontRain was just approved. If you're tracking the weather for the biggest event of the year at everyone's favorite fruit company then you'll get some extra flair. ✨🍎🔮
Widgets that track the weather will now also tell you how many days until they can do that.
Version 1.6 has been approved. Widgets now have color weather symbols by default and display the name of the place if there is room.
Version 1.5 released today adds wind speed! It will show the speed and compass direction the wind is coming from. As with other units of measurement, if you don't prefer the unit of measurement for wind speed you can change it. Available options are meters per second, kilometers per hour, miles per hour, and knots. New app name: Please Don't Be Windy?
Please Don't Rain is in this "apps to check out this weekend" article on iDB. Thanks to Cody Lee.

Version 1.4 has been approved. It contains a huge improvement to the places you can specify. You can choose theme parks (including some rides at major theme parks!!), airports, beaches, campgrounds, marinas, national parks, parks, stadiums, universities, zoos, and schools.
Please Don't Rain doesn't know your location or ask for your location. Track a day's weather for a place with complete privacy!
This happy sun is a new image available for sunny days.
AppAdvice did a wonderful feature on Please Don’t Rain. Thanks so much to Brent Dirks for writing it. #PleaseDontRain #AppAdvice

Version 1.3 has been approved and is rolling out now.
Pro users can now use color weather symbols with Super Serious Mode instead of whimsical weather images. VoiceOver improvements were made to weather symbols.
There's also an Easter Egg for @DeepDishSwift while it's still a ways away. Enter the right date and the right location and you'll get a surprise if you're a Pro user.
I’m not even fully awake yet but it’s already a good day. @PleaseDontRain is charting on the App Store. I never thought I’d see something I wrote on one of those lists. 🥹
Thank you to everyone.
It's looking like @PleaseDontRain is going to launch tomorrow with 300 pre-orders, which is WAY more than I ever would have hoped for. Following the YOLO (You Only Launch Once) advice from @jordanmorgan was a great idea. Thanks to @podomunro for pointing it out to me!
Please Don't Rain launches tomorrow on the App Store for iOS. It's fun way to track whether rain/snow will affect a day that's important to you.

I learned so much about weather building a weather app. @malin and @kaidombrowski gave me a heads up that in some parts of the world for a period of time there are days where there is no sunrise. @PleaseDontRain would have shown a happy sun on those days. Now I handle them!
When I decided to make a weather app I thought that the hardest part was going to shifting through mountains of weather data. That's not even remotely true. Apple makes it a bloody delight to deal with WeatherKit in Swift.
The enemy was timezones. OMG the timezones. Turns out making an app where a user anywhere in the world can pick a date and location at any other place in the world can get complicated!
Thanks to @bas for sharing this video with me.
My hero @rafa does a "details most people might not notice" about his apps so I'm going to emulate him.
The Pro version of @PleaseDontRain lets you choose what image is shown for each weather condition. I had all sad faces for snow but my friend Emin protested. So I added a setting to choose how you feel about snow.
In the View where you select your snow image I animate between the happy and sad expressions. Please note that the 🐢 face changes also.
