You can use the same preparation as the sage leaves for asparagus tips, celery leaves, green beans etc.

Use your favourite tempura-style batter. I use an #EggFree batter with SR Flour, cornstarch, evo, soda water (or beer or dry white wine), salt.

If you have #Plenty by #Ottolenghi, he includes a lovely egg-free tempura batter.

The soup - Green Gazpacho, from #Ottolenghi 's book #Plenty, is fabulous, especially on this hotter than hot day. I added a little lemon juice, but that's the only change I made.

I made half a recipe, and needed to add the ingredients gradually to the blender - let it blend down then add more. I suspect with some blenders you'd need to blend it in multiple lots, esp if making the full recipe.

But, I think half the recipe would serve 4 people. I ate A LOT for lunch but if you had this as part of a meal, it would serve 4.

I think it would also make fabulous small "shots" or double shot size, handed around to people while they are nibbling prior to a meal eg at a BBQ or outdoor lunch.

(I fell in love with very small servings of soup in South India where it was commonly served with or after the meal - not everywhere nor traditional, but it is not uncommon.)

Our stovetop grill gets a good workout in Summer - it is so easy to throw some veg onto the grill and have wonderful, flavoursome dishes in minutes. Better even when the veg come from the garden. Great for gluts too - eg zucchini and eggplant.

Asparagus too! #Ottolenghi has a recipe for Char-grilled #Asparagus in #Plenty that is pretty similar to my favourite recipe. He grills it with evo, salt, pepper, then adds feta and lemon zest.

It's pretty good, but mine is better. 😂
