I've seen the articles, but I'd like some opinions. Is Plex Pass worth it? I'd like to download media to my phone and be able to cast it when I'm with friends. Generally, everything else is fine.
Do I not know what I'm missing?

Fun fact: one of the main reasons I am getting is because of the proxy; I will be moving out of my parents' home eventually, and the proxy only lets you stream in SD. I can't guarantee in whatever apartment building I end up that I'll be able to do port forwarding, for a proper direct stream setup like I have now

Unfortunately though, I will still need to find my own solution for my accompanying server, I use that to upload movies and shows to the server

Aha; it seems that supports third-party tone mapping to online in the .

So the issue was probably not that doesn't support tone mapping, but that doesn't support tone mapping natively. / must support it natively, so it did it on its own once it received the video content.

@lain is awesome. Doesn't always "just work" for me though because I needed to do custom port forwarding stuff on my local network (I really just need to pay for the lifetime so I can utilize their proxies to the fullest extent; I'm not sure that I'll be able to port forward when I move out and get an apartment)
