Jumperless Rev 3 is here!
If you're a music person and have been waiting for this revision with the fast SPI DACs that can generate 800KHz at +-8V, well, wait no longer.
Use it as a meatspace filter for #plugdata or #max8 (output audio to Jumperless, mess with it on a breadboard, and send it back), or programmatically swap patch cables or effect pedals.
And it's available as a kit now if that's more your vibe. Here's a minute-long GIF of me assembling the kit.

I’ve been quiet about the Oblique Easel project for a little while. It got really frustrating. I was trying to get its Raspberry Pi-hearted ass to output to this cheap audio DAC so I could level shift the high res results into control voltages (or audio, as required). After trying a bunch, I realized that the audio codec chip had its numbers etched off. I tried it on my Mac. It couldn’t see the device at all.
What happened here is that I’m trying to jump over my minimum viable I/O scheme into a GOOD I/O scheme. That is not good prototyping protocol! I thought I saw a shortcut and got derailed for weeks.
So I’m going to fall back to the two built-in audio outputs and do all control voltages through the Oblique Palette I/O module’s Arduino heart. I’m even going to use PWM output through a capacitor lopass to get a “steady” control voltage. It won’t be a lot of channels, and there will be all kinds of artifacts, but I don’t see anything between Now and Working except audio in, which might be a matter of a stereo USB car audio in.
The step after that is to build it on top of a USB 3 hub that provides all power and data through one cable between the Easel and the Palette.
And then I’ll be able to program sounds that can be played within a Eurorack system and generate control voltages that speak with it.
And do all my weird experimental programming graphically with #plugdata.

@neauoire I did a terrible thing - I made this monstrosity so #orca would play this track itself and I didn't have to suffer trying to turn everything on and off in time myself (It was even worse, I shortened it).
#febrajam #16, this time I finally tried out #plugdata - a beautiful #puredata wrapper. I struggled to remember how the puredata works, but it all worked out in the end.

@erik My impressions of #plugdata are similar to yours. Initially, I thought it was only a curiosity - but then I realized it integrated really well with session management tools like Carla. And it was easier to integrate it into a DAW like #Ardour than to send tracks to pd-vanilla. And then there's the UI: really great, less resource-hungry than purr-data, and probably better in terms of usability.
#PureData's #Plugdata now exports C++ code to make audio #plugins 😎 : https://github.com/plugdata-team/plugdata/releases/tag/v0.6.3
I've been beta testing and bug reporting on this new flavor of #puredata for a while called #plugdata . It has a modern #maxmsp -like interface, but it's big differentiator is that it can run as a VST. If you have any idea what I'm talking about, check this: https://plugdata.org/
added a gate to persist the current partial values. nice for creating drones. maybe ill add sliders to alter the harmonics or replace the sine osc´s with band pass filters to make it a #resonator like supermodal 😄 #PureData #plugdata

some re-synthesis in #plugdata #PureData using a piano as input and pitch/env tracking the harmonics to re-create it with sinus partials. maybe i can get some nice mpe data out for #bitwig synths. wanted to use "mpeformat" but its not part of plug data. #musicproduction
