It was perfectly ripe and tasted delicious. Now that's it's already gone have I realised that I should have taken a picture of it, used another plum for scale, and created am amazing meme to demonstrate its size: "Oh lawd, he plummin...".
Alas, this one was not to be...

Plums are one of my favorite fruits, and are coming into season, so I'm marking the occasion. Moillon was a Baroque-era French painter of still lifes, highly praised in her time as her work was purchased by King Charles I of England. Her skill is evident here!

Three years ago, my partner gave me two sticks which she assured me were dwarf fruit trees. I dutifully planted them, and now indeed have a cherry and a plum tree thriving in containers on an upper-storey balcony. And this year, the plum has fruited! Birds or squirrels took most of the plums quickly, but I still have four which have made it this far and are starting to ripen. Biggest question being asked on my gardening website at the moment is - can you fix broken plum tree branches? Seems like there are a lot of heavy-cropping plums and damsons out there! I can really recommend Japanese blood plum Lizzie - lovely flowers and a very heavy cropper!

My first batch of #fermented #SourPlums is done & jarred. There's over 300 in this jar. Starting next batch in 2 weeks, with some of my yellow #plums this time. Preserved with simple coarse salt & cane sugar.
