Hello. Recently Iā€™ve been making a series of musical scores based off of TikTok Sessions. Itā€™s probably best described as . Sometimes itā€™s a chaotic mess. Other times itā€™s a poignant reminder of how our society is fucked up.

I teared up after listening to a few few of the tracks. They hit home. I was a few drinks in from the pub but that doesnā€™t make it any less significant. Hereā€™s some photos.

Nice quote from John Oswald in his original paper on in 1985:

Milkweed are back & still not sounding like anyone else. Here a (borderline too) distressed lo-fi hip hop aesthetic is the glue that somehow manages to bind the raw hypnotic quality of proto-blues field songs with medieval folk & ancient nordic legend - inspired by ancient Danish burial mounds; to mesmerising, esoteric, plunderphonic effect. Milkweed don't appear to be coming in from the freak folk farside anytime soon

It really captures the wistful ambience of reading a WG Sebald book. I realise it's probably a bit niche for many people, but if you want a copy you'd better get your skates on: It's a limited pressing of only 500 copies.

I finally own a copy of this beauty. One of my favourite albums of recent years. The soundtrack to the 2012 documentary 'Patience (After Sebald).' The album works with a 1927 recording of Franz Schubert's 'Winterreise.' Cover art by Ivan Seal. Pressing of only 500 copies. Another artefact for my little W.G. Sebald shrine.. sorry, I meant collection.

I've been thinking about artists and . There are (legitimate) complaints that it's stealing artists' work as raw material.

But maybe we should flip this around. What OpenAI is doing is essentially . should leverage this to push for an overall loosening of restrictions as an equity issue.

Human artists should be as free to sample media as OpenAI is already doing with great corporate fanfare.

Turnabout is fair play.
