The weather this week has been outrageously pleasant. A perfect high 70s, mostly sunny, and calm. I've wanted to do nothing but sit on my deck and soak in the goodness.

I feel like summer is psyching me out. It's pretending to always be this way.

My morning visitor, dubbed Crisp last year, when his mama would bring her fawns by to snack on apples. His sister, Honey, is the one that comes over to eat my blueberries. He didn't notice me on the deck until my husband said something. Love it!

While I was chatting with my friend this afternoon at a state park where my teenager works, we looked up to see a truck with a Confederate flag flown from its tailgate.

We both had an immediate and visceral moment of shock. Our faces went still then angry. We did our very best to glare at the young man as he drove by, turned around, and drove back out of the park.

The park rangers can't do a thing. Free speech and all.

Don't forget: White supremacists live and hate here.

We recently moved and have a small backyard for the first time in 6+ years and I'm sitting back here listening to a hummingbird dive bomb by a (presumably) lady friend in the big holly tree while the sun sets and it's just so nice.

Argh! I am failing at saving all the bugs today! Every time I see one fluttering around inside my car, I try to let it out by lowering the window.

Two have now died by being squished in the window crack. Wrong flutter at the wrong time. 🥺

There's something so beautiful and happy about the first sunny days after rain. The most magic is in Juneau, Alaska with it's bright blue sky, green mountains, and sparkling ocean.

But the Pacific Northwest is a close second. ❤️
