@John_Livingston ça existe mais je ne l'ai jamais fait, cf https://po4a.org/man/man7/po4a.7.php
po4a-gettextize(1) can be used to convert an existing translation project to the po4a infrastructure. This script takes an original document and its translated counterpart, and tries to build the corresponding PO file. Such manual conversion is rather cumbersome (see the po4a-gettextize(1) documentation for more details)

I just released #po4a v0.69 https://github.com/mquinson/po4a/releases/tag/v0.69
po4a eases documentation translations and their maintenance. It extracts the translatable material from the original document, and places it into a PO file that is adapted to the translation process. Once this PO file is updated by the translator, po4a re-injects the translation into the structure of the original document to generate a translated document.
This version sanitizes the internal code around YAML and improves placeholders in XML.
A new release of #po4a (with PRs from several ppl -- thanks to them) will be out this week-end, once the translators update their work.
https://github.com/mquinson/po4a/blob/master/NEWS
po4a is a tool to maintain the translation of documents that get regularly updated, such as FOSS documentation and websites.

It was my thesis avoidance project 20 years ago. Someone maintained it 10 years, I took it back but a new volunter is needed: https://www.volunteeramnestyday.net

@ben_crowell_fullerton hello Ben. I would very much like to help with the translations of your books to any languages, especially French my mother tongue, as they are #oer. Maybe the tools #po4a & the #gettext tools can help. Another idea is to share them on #wikibooks & use them as références for courses on #wikiversity possibly, the #mastodonCommunity could help for technical bits. Hope to read you soon.

#po4a the universal converter from and to po files is releasing soon, please update your #Translation on https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/po4a/#components

@ButterflyOfFire
IT WORKS! #i18n and #l10n are coming for https://docs.fedoraproject.org

He is my article explaining how to use #po4a to automate translation management: https://jibecfed.fedorapeople.org/blog-hugo/en/2018/11/translation-automation-with-po4a/
(it is the continuation of the article on how to create a static #multilingual site with #hugo)

#localization for #fedora #documentation: third and fourth step are done thanks to #po4a:
we now have a script to generate pot files from adoc (~markdown) source: https://pagure.io/fedora-l10n/install-guide/blob/master/f/make_pot.sh
and a script to generate localized adoc (~markdown) files from po files: https://pagure.io/fedora-l10n/install-guide/blob/master/f/use_po.sh
many more to come before f29 release!

you wanted to know if #Weblate automatic component import would work with a document hierarchy?
Yes it works!
By the way, commits with #gitlab and #pagure works fine (here using my #yunohost server).
Here is my First Pagure commit for #Fedora documentation <3 https://pagure.io/fork/jibecfed/fedora-docs/install-guide/c/dc15c405c4e8d59982f8a5a0c7cc72d789ab110e?branch=master
Still looking for an excuse not to #translate a whole markdown/adoc/... website?
if it goes through #po4a, then it will work!

Just tested #Grav static generator, it's good to see a tool with such good #i18n support! It's a real #l10n friendly project for your #website and #documentation! Plug it to #weblate, #po4a and CI, and you get a perfect system <3
