Now something different. One of the best podcasts I’m following is The History of the English Language https://historyofenglishpodcast.com/ It starts at Indo-European and explains the development of English since then. Now it had reached the times of Shakespeare. The story is told with a mixture of general history and its’ relation with etymology, sound development and literature. Where necessary sound clips or citations give a good illustration. #Podcast #Podcastreview #history #language

Another great LGBTQI+ podcast is Welcome to Provincetown (https://welcome-to-provincetown.simplecast.com). In 12 episodes you follow the ups and downs of several people during a summer in this gay resort. Meanwhile you get to know the special meaning Provincetown, but also how this special place is in danger of losing its' soul. And a special shoutout to Summer of Sass (https://www.summerofsass.org): a safe haven for queer kids. It plays a central rol in this podcast series.#Podcasts #Podcast #Podcastreview #lgbtqi

Bad Gays (https://badgayspod.com) is a great podcast about LGBTQI+ history from a fun point of view: evil & complicated people. This podcast is more analytical in nature compared to the previously reviewed podcast. Over time the two podcasters develop a theme, where colonialism, racisme & class colour the development of the gay identity. Thought provoking and fun! (Btw they also wrote a book about it) #Podcasts #Podcastreview #LGBTQI #history

‘Making Gay History’ is one of my favourite podcasts. “Bringing the voices of LGBTQ+ history to life” is its goal. Based on audio tapes made by Eric Marcus while interviewing people for his many books, these podcasts give a unique insight in American LGBTQI+ history from the 1950’s onward. Because he started these interviews in the 1980’s often long lost voices come back to us. 12 seasons of LGBTQ+ audio history. https://makinggayhistory.com

For more than a decade I’m an avid podcast listener. Over the years I have enjoyed and still enjoyed many hours listening to great stories and interesting opinions. I thought it might be nice to share my favourite podcast in short mini-review toots. Those reviews will be published 1 podcast per 1 toot.
I listen to podcasts in Dutch and English. The reviews will be in the language of the podcast. I hope to publish a review on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Podcast review:
This is Love
I resisted this podcast for a long time because I thought it was about "love" which I'm not a big fan of lol. However, it's not so much about attractive love, but about love between ppl, gay, straight, whatever... not just romantic love, but even love between straight men looking after each other. It's a good thing.

Roman Mars takes us on a journey through urban design that we never noticed. His silky voice entices us to enjoin him upon unexpected journeys. Quite honestly one of the best podcasts ever made

Podcast review #2 Case 63
I'm not usually a fan of fiction via podcast but this is an exception. Brilliant acting by Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac and an intriguing story. Beware. It's not going where you think it might. I thought oh... kinda "La Jetée" or"12 Monkeys", but no... so much more. Adapted from the hit Chilean podcast "Caso 63".
