I’ve been an Overcast user for a long, long time. When iOS 17 beta became available, I decided to try the built-in podcasts app for the first time since the app used a turtle and rabbit to symbolize output speed.
It was fine. I think it probably does a much better job at show discovery.
It insisted, to a fault, to play its queue, apparently defined by when a show is dropped. If there was a setting to stop this, I might’ve stuck w it

I love #PocketCasts, but they have a low-key passive-aggressive streak for podcasters who skip a day of the schedule.

@YurkshireLad Pocket Casts is great. The free tier is all I need to keep up with 90+ podcast feeds. iOS and Android both, from Automattic, makers of WordPress. I also like PlayerFM's discovery features fwiw.
That's an expensive mistake, one that can cost a company all the consumer and supplier subsidies it bought with its shareholders' cash.
It's a mistake that Spotify just made, when it pursued its podcast #exclusivity strategy, blowing more than a billion dollars buying up podcasts and then locking them up inside Spotify's walled garden, unreachable unless you use Spotify's client - other #podcatchers need not apply:

I have a huge beef with Apple Podcasts, your whole setup feels wack and lackluster, I’m not a fan.
However, I’m wondering what kind of pod catcher you use, and why if you care to share? #podcasts #podcatchers #audiodrama
