Podman on FreeBSD (and Linux): satisfying my curiosity and the bug I found. Here's my article:

The above is far more than a tech post for me. I last wrote a tech article (perhaps) over two years ago. I went through a lot, including transitioning, and I'm trying with all my energy to return to normal. It'll take a while, but I thank those who stand by my side daily.

I've been using #Docker on my #LibreComputer, an #SBC abotu equivalent to a Raspberry Pi 3, with 2 GB of RAM. I was just reading about #Podman as a drop-in replacement for Docker. Does anyone have any experience using it? Will it use noticeably less system resources? Any gotchas?

Spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and this morning trying to move my Nextcloud instance to another server and running it in a Podman container (managed by Quadlet). Super bummed out, but it's not happening. 馃檨
The closest I've got was having a running instance, even being able to log in, but ultimately unable to get write permissions on the data dir.
No amount of `:z`, `:Z` or UID/GID mapping would resolve this issue.
*impostor syndrome intensifies*

@rakevdnamhsekol has just added a podmansh video to our YouTube channel. If you want a quick intro, this video will do that for you! #opensource #podman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I887DKB6x8&t=8s
https://iximiuz.com/en/posts/kubernetes-kind-load-docker-image/ - #Podman is not quite a drop-in replacement for #Docker. There's some quirks that still make #Docker the easiest easy button. For example, #KiND and #Podman are separate so push images from Podman to Kind #k8s cluster. Great post @iximiuz.
The @Podman_io team kindly agreed to start testing cockpit-podman in podman pull requests, being the first project outside of our team to do upstream reverse dependency testing. I'm looking forward how this will work out!

Podman is really just Bubble Boy, but more grown up. He didn鈥檛 think he could get any dates being known as Bubble Boy. He rebranded. #podman #lowqualityfacts
btw, can people who know #podman and #linux container stuff help me with something?
having this/these problem(s) and I really don't know why

asking on endeavour help didn't really have any result
I've hit a stumbling block on using an immutable OpenSUSE. I've been using ddev for my web development (and it works great!), but it requires docker and my OS only has podman.
Could I install docker? Yes, but that defeats the spirit of the thing.

I need to leave this #server in an #error state until I create a proper method of alerting me when this particular problem happens again .... Day by day, its latest backup is becoming more stale ....I need to restore said #backup, eventually .... #telegraf in a #container has limited ability to transmit host #stats and I'm not finding a satisfying #solution because I don't want to #rpmostree install anything *especially* from some #dirty third party repo :ablobspin:
