I am rounding out April as National Poetry writing month with a short story, written of course with a poetical flair. I hope you enjoy this fantasy snack.

Who wants to play a poetry game?
Years ago, I used to organize Renga, Japanese collaborative poetry games, online. You can read about them here (on my much-neglected website): https://shaulaevans.com/lets-write-a-renga-poem/
It occurs to me in the fleeting moments of poetry month that perhaps we could write a renga on Mastodon together.
You don't have to be a "poet" & everyone is welcome. You typically write 14-17 syllables at a time.
*This is an inquiry post, not a renga game!

The most frustrating thing about dealing with the neurotypical world for me, is being shamed and ostracized for pointing out obvious lies. As if the person lying is somehow acting socially acceptable, but I am not!?

#DidYouKnow #Autistic people have a proclivity for pattern-recognition?
We develop a deep appreciation for poetry as a form of activism.
My poem “The Neurotypical Liberal” was inspired by #MalcolmX’s critique of white liberals.

Walt Whitman scholars have assumed his poetry didn’t get to Britain until Leaves of Grass was published in 1855.
In fact, the Leaves of Grass poem, ‘Resurgemus’, which memorialises ‘That brief, tight, glorious grip upon the throats of kings’ in the 1848 Revolutions, appeared in 1850 in the London weekly, the Red Republican, which Karl Marx contributed to.

Medium, and now Mastodon gives writers such a great platform. I wrote this little epistolary in honor of that.
