Up naturally at 3:30. Roll into my meditation throne. Refuge and seven minutes of #meditation is a wonderful way to start the day.
Across the house to my studio, offer flowers, incense, water, and a Bob Ross secular saints votive candle to the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and my teachers, and sit down at my work table to find a #poem flowing out of me.
It's not always like this, but when it is, it's delicious!

Dear @davgar51 and @guentheralex Here is a poem I originally wrote for @PoetsonThursday for the bird site when I was thinking about my best friend (truly), and then thought of my human friends there. So, after schmoozing with my friend the cat (Lucie-Minou), and feeling sorry for myself, anyway, the poem was written and I posted it midweek, on Sunday, inviting others to do the same. But it's now Wed. am and so I'm puttinig it up here, #PoetsonThursday #poetry. Copyright 1/28/23, VLB) Vicki
A silly poem I wrote yesterday for #PoetsonThursday #poetry today. It's called "Once in a Summer Park" C. 1/25/23 Victoria Leigh Bennett
Piney, pinny, piddy,
Down went all the ducks,
Over went to feed them
Folks with crumbs and clucks.
"Cluckest thou at me, sir?"
Quacked a stately drake,
One who'd fed on
Shakespeare,
In summer's park once spake.
His match in human form then
Who'd heard his reference* right
Responded, "No, but I cluck!"
And tossed a crumb for spite.
*Rom. & Jul., fight scene

Hey, there, @davgar51 and @guentheralex , and any other determined to get this hashtag on Mastodon #PoetsonThursday off the ground! I've been busy today and recuperating from a bad situation, but I'm finally here, before Thursday is over where I am, to post some #poetry. This is a poem I put up for my friends and colleagues and writers and poets all across the bird site about a year ago, folks whose works I'd come to admire. It's called "The Prayer." A poem for #PoetsonThursday, #poetry, persisting in my efforts to get you two and others going on this on Mastodon servers and etc., @davgar51 and @guentheralex By the way, Alex, you mentioned that you might not be able to post for a while due to routine eye thing at hospital. If it should turn out to be a problem for a while, you can record to me and I'll post for you on Mastodon and the vulture site for our collective. We'll just have to work out how, odd words spelled out, etc. Vicki
Hi there, my two trusty (I hope, haven't heard much from you guys lately) fellows at @PoetsonThursday and our Mastodon attempt at the same feat, #PoetsonThursday! We're down to 0 per week on the hashtags, whereas we used to have at least the 3 of us. Let me know how you are and what's happenin'! @guentheralex and @davgar51. Here's my Thursday #poetry shot a few hours early for me, but right on time for you as you guys are both in earlier time zones. Come one come all!
Hello, @davgar51, @guentheralex and anyone else hardy enough to write a poem for #PoetsonThursday today! Here's a poem from my book "Poems from the Northeast," which was published in August, 2021. It's called "Twins," and is in a traditional style, because sometimes when you want to say something snotty in poetry, a traditional style serves best! So, here I am at my snotty best! Hi, guys! Me again. I'm posting early for your #PoetsonThursday, but it's not early for you, since both of you are ahead of me in time zones. I don't see a declared prompt from either of you up. If I missed it, sorry. My poem's from p. 227 of my book, "Poems from the Northeast," and has this footnote on 2nd p.,: "*William Blake, in Auguries of Innocence, spoke of these experiences: "To see a World in a Grain of Sand...and Eternity in an hour." #poetry

Today's poem for #PoetsonThursday on Mastodon at mstdn.social and at @PoetsonThursday on Twitter was "For an Old Friend." It was copyrighted 12/6/2022. The theme was to "write about a friendship you've had with a wild life form (not a domestic pet)." I wrote about a tree.
A fun, sly stab at Freudian theory in poetic form from my 2021 book, "Poems from the Northeast," seen here in the thumbnail. Some of these poems are also up in mstdn.social, but my hashtags here don't reflect them, so I guess that means they aren't showing here, so I'm putting them here, too. This poem is entitled "Loike a Bit o' Fun, Sweetheart?" Shown last week at PoetsonThursday on Twitter and the corresponding #PoetsonThursday being monitored by Dave Garbutt and Alex Guenther on Mastodon.

Okay, @davgar51 and @guentheralex, I know I haven't been much fun for the last week (haven't been here) but I've had a dreadful winter cold-cum-laryngitis-cum-sore-throat and have been nursing my mother through the same after she fainted (hunger, as it turned out, as had forgotten to have her candy with her coffee in the morning) and had to go to hospital for tests for a day and a half! I'm back. So, here's my comtribution, Dave, for Poets', will also post other site. #PoetsonThursday #poetry
