A lot of people like to call my usual artstyle #pointilism, but I would say that is incorrect. Pointilism makes explicit use of color, whereas I only draw in b&w, so it is more accurate to call it #stippling.

So, here‘s my actual first attempt at pointilism. I tried to draw Baculites, a Late #Cretaceous genus of #ammonite which is notable for briefly surviving past the K-Pg impact.

artist’s note: the artist painstakingly covered this 40 square foot diptych with small gobs of heavy body acrylic paint (Golden), creating a uniquely textured form of pointillism. as an observer moves around the work, the standing ridges of paint change color.
