I cooked and ate poke sallet from a 6-foot tall (or so) plant, but I only took young, actively growing parts to eat.

And I'm not dead or sick!

So it seems the advice to only eat poke sallet that is small and under knee height (or whatever variation of the advice one may have heard) is wrong, and the presenter from Haphazard Homestead was right.

Boil 1–2 minutes, pour off water and rinse, then boil again for at least 10 minutes (I did 15) and serve.

Preparing poke sallet is WAY easier than I ever realized. And it's fucking delicious too. I will 1000% be cooking more poke this year. It's just so good. I think I might also try canning it if I'm able to.

I just want everyone to be aware of the song Polk Salad Annie, which is arguably the best song about a leafy green ever written — though I argue the correct spelling is Poke Sallet(I think the label is responsible for the misspelling)
