Last year this time I did my first remote skiing trip.

I set out with limited supplies, expecting to stay only the daylight hours out, but it ended up lasting up to midnight because I chose to take a longer route on the way back. As it was getting dark, I realized I had forgotten my headlamp. I thought I would not be able to continue and I might have to overnight in a hut along the way, without a sleeping bag. Luckily I had a lighter so I could make a fire (outside temp was -20C). However, moonlight allowed me to continue my journey, and I was rewarded with a spectacular display of polar lights as I returned to the village after skiing 30 km for over 10 hours.

My supplies came in today, so I'm excited to play with the following for the first time as I work on the #PolarLights #Enterprise and #BottanyBay kit from #StarTrek.

#1 - Course to super-fine sandpaper

#2 - 2mm masking tape for detailed paint stuffs (EXCITED)

#3 - Putty to fill in seems

#4 - Imagine #2, but as a nail polish you can rub off later

#5 - What I hope will seal the regular paint so I can "wet-apply" the decals.

I'm working on my #PolarLights USS #Enterprise kit. After completing my son's, I know more of what I'm doing and I'm doing quite a bit of small things a bit better. Much better masking, paint mixing records, etc.

I built and painted this nearly 10 years ago. The starship Enterprise. Second pilot version for all you glorious Trek nerds out there! My first "serious" model kit build. Sold it to a good friend from first semester of college. Not overly big at 1/1000 scale, but I had a lot of fun doing it. I have a few more of these kits and I NEED to build them! :)

From what I understand so far, this is not a picture sharing platform. But I always love having some nice pictures between the content that I read and I hope others do, too. Plus I just want to show off a little with some of my #naturephotography and I'm currently planning my next #winter #hiking trip to experience the amazing #auroraborealis again. Gotta love #polarlights!
