At least two journalists were detained at #JustStopOil protests on grounds of conspiracy to commit a public order offence. Those powers come from the previously passed Police Crime Sentencing and Courts Act (#PolicingBill ). Protests now being used to stir up support to pass the harsher #PublicOrderBill

@nicol that toot was based on something I only knew about as I'd seen it on Twitter. Then last night I saw the UK had voted on the repressive #electionsbill, #PolicingBill and #bordersbill.. all on one day and I missed it as I was here. In other words fewer followers isn't the problem, but the birdsite is also my Google Reader replacement into what's happening in the world, more human/moderated than RSS. And boosting news there, at this time, is my part in that. And that's harder to let go of.
