Every time I see a liberal media personality make a sudden and dramatic pivot to the right, e.g., Ana Kasparian, I can’t help but wonder if they only recently became a grifter or if they had been grifting all along.

One could argue that there are few things less productive than victimhood Olympics, where people argue about whose identity group is more downtrodden.

Statements like “no, Hitler put MY group up against the wall first!” do not lead to anything helpful. All bigotry is always wrong, so its impact is not diminished by the existence of a bit more that’s targeted at someone else.

But if we did hold such an event – and I’m not saying that we should – if we did, then women would win the gold medal on the basis of sheer quantity and ubiquity.

The most universal form of bigotry is misogyny, simply because women exist everywhere in large numbers.

White supremacy, for example, requires whites, and those are geographically clustered. Homophobia is universal, but there are just fewer gays, whereas women are roughly half the population.

Moreover, homophobia is largely derivative and reflective of misogyny. In fact, misogyny is often the vanilla base that other forms of bigotry build on and add flavoring to.

This means that misogyny is often baked into other forms of bigotry. For example, white supremacists in America are opposed to a woman’s right to choose whether to carry a pregnancy to term.

As a result, while the list of bigotries goes on and on, women rise to the top under any reasonable set of criteria.

Misogyny is not just for men, either, and never was. Self-hating women are a thing, and women do their part in indoctrinating children into this and other forms of bigotry.

While anti-choice sentiment in America is more common among men, it’s not by all that much. You’d think that women would overwhelmingly support their own equality, but it’s just not so.

I’d like to say that this is changing, but what ultimately prompted this musing is the linked article, which talks about how equality for women is backsliding globally.
