I find it unsellting when outlets talk about politicians and their "path to power" or their "holding onto power," etc. Over many years, the media has helped skew the national perception of politicians not as "holding an office" or elected to "serve the people" but as vaulted celebrities with "power" that needs to be maintained no matter the cost. Today, we get political theater over actual legislation.

One thing that would help improve media coverage of politics would be the banishing of all stories and headlines that feature words like “could,” “might,” “expected” and the like. Speculation is not news. It is also grossly manipulable by campaigns and political insiders. The 24 hour “news” cycle is destroying meaningful political life in favor of hashtags and performative displays.
