@KiffinEileen The idea that S Percy Smith made up the names "#Kupe" and "Aotearoa" is not what #historian Stephen King believed, but at least King used the standard spelling (and Smith's first initial) while agreeing (at pages 39-42 of the #Penguin #History of New Zealand) that #Aotearoa was not the original native name for #NZ. #Polynesians named islands, not groups of them.
