I think we're reaching Peak Second Coming. Ever since Joan #Didion quoted #Yeats's 1919 poem in 1968, the self-styled US "center" — people who believe only in moderation, including moderate fascism it seems — have been obsessed with its imaginary political geometry. You know the one: "Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold [...] The best lack all conviction, while the worst / Are full of passionate intensity." A third of this #NYT opinion piece is occupied with the explaining how to apply this tiresome trope, including this gem of #pomo disorientation: "I've never interpreted the center in Yeats's poem to mean something like a politically moderate middle but rather a moral foundation, the ideological core of a nation and its people."

While procrastinating working on my masters thesis I built #pomo, a #pomodoro timer thats supposed to help me not procrastinating as much. It's a simple #cli app build in #rust.
My favourite feature is `pomo start --until 17:00` which automatically figures out how many repetitions and how long a pomodoro session should be so you are done exactly at 5 PM.

Focus, Yep, it's a criticism of big stories (meta narratives) as modernism is based on "big stories" for example ideology,

#pomo is a criticism of modernism. BUT from a modernist prospective it's just another ideology - and from a post-modern prospective its a meta narrative that denies the posserbilerty of any such thing.

The ideology of PostModernism definately has some hard limits.

In the months (and years!) ahead we have a sense that we're going to see these limits unfold in front of our eyes.

Much contemporary #openweb social tech and progressive online politics has a pathetic agender. Have been talking to the #pomo crew to see if they understand any of this, they have nothing to say and do nothing. Have been outreaching to the #NGO and more #mainstreaming radical crew and they have nothing as well.

Talking to some social techies, they are trying to understand.

It's a problem.
