Coming to the close of the season & my role as #PontcysyllteAqueduct Ranger is on hold til next year. A UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing 11 miles of the #LlangollenCanal. Completed in 1805 by #WilliamJessop & #ThomasTelford, it's a remarkable feat of #engineering Straddling the River Dee, 126ft high on local stone pillars. The cast iron trough is 1007ft long, 5ft 3in deep and holds 1.5 million litres of water. Tallest navigable aqueduct in the World. Longest navigable aqueduct in the UK.
