Maining #pop_os again. Got tired of weird quirks in Fedora/Nobara. I'm fine using an LTS distrosince i'm running mostly all Flatpaks. Sucking it up and using #GNOME as my DE though. #Linux #LinuxGaming

My primary Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme (gen3) w/Nividia had a lot of issues running Debian 12 with Nouveau drivers. It completely freaked on external monitors at high weird res and refresh. Keeping Debian 12 on others, but to be functional on this system: Popping back to POP_OS! I'm blaming Nvidia, and am thankful for the work @system76 has put into #POP_OS!
I installed #pop_os on a whim today out of curiosity. First time using a DPKG distro in a long time.
I'm really impressed. It took very little effort to get back into a game. Default settings are sane and I don't have the urge to change everything. It feels good and weird at the same time. 😆
Looks like updates in POP_OS! land broke my audio on a laptop. Maybe time to put Debian 12 on this one as well? Maybe this weekend. #POP_OS
For privacy and "FOSS ideals" stay away from Ubuntu and RedHat.
For "easy for a Windows user", I tried switching to Linux 6-7 times over 15 years, different distro every time.
The one that finally "stuck" for me was #Mint.
Although honestly, nowadays, most of the top distros are very good. I'm also a fan of #Pop_OS
While my company unfortunately centralizes around Windows and Microsoft tools such as Teams, I've managed to reap the ability to use #Pop_OS as my daily driver.
This means some occasional pain points when operating in such an environment and Teams has been particularly bothersome. It seems now their PWA allows for custom backgrounds which is progress toward feature parity.
So I had this curiosity of the size of a grain regarding Nix. I started learning about it, thought it was cool. Installed nix and played around installing stuff. Now I'm full blown wanting to replace my #Pop_OS with #NixOS. I can already see where this is leading... Soon I'll probably have all my home and work environments running NixOS. 🤦🏽
Installing #Linux can be a nightmare if you are not skilled and your hardware (Nvidia...) is not supported out of the box.
But it can also be a breeze.
The adventure starts now.
Can someone please advise? I'm running @pop_os_official on an iMac 27" machine and need to do some basic video editing that I recorded on my Google Pixel 1 (running @LineageOS ) which I have now downloaded to my machine. I just need to trim/clip and basic transition some of the recordings but I'm no video editing expert! Any recommendations for a FOSS video editing application for beginners would be very much appreciated! #pop_os #videoediting #foss

Spent last night processing some orthos using the latest #webodm version and the results look amazing. Installing all the dependencies on #pop_os to run the webodm gpu docker version was pretty straight forward thanks to the Pop!_OS documentation.
The work the #odm team is doing is simply amazing. They're enabling so much people carry out their projects without getting stuck in proprietary solutions. Thank you!

I would personally prevere #krita or #gimp. A simpler app is #KolourPaint.
