A few years back we did a pilgrimage to the Record Plant in Sausalito; the stories about Fleetwood Mac recording Rumours there are legendary.

It’s also where Prince recorded his first album, not to mention blockbuster records by Huey Lewis, Aretha, Stevie Wonder, Santana…. It was closed for a long time, but it looks like it might become a recording studio again.

The unreleased Prince album that I’m most interested in is Camille — planned for a January 1987 release, quickly shelved, with three tracks integrated into Sign o’ the Times (of course). Luckily all of the tracks have been released, so you can assemble your own playlist.

Here’s a lengthy article about Camille, with an implication that it is going to be released; I’ll believe that when I see it.

@P13 @davidivy @toddo A lot of great Prince tracks on this list! My Prince favs playlist has 132 tracks — some are just OK (of course) and I don’t think I have any protégé tracks, but it’s still fantastic.

I always knew that Prince could do everything, but I first realized that no one else could do what Prince does was when I heard “Strange Relationship”, “Ballad of Dorothy Parker” and especially “If I Was Your Girlfriend” — all on Sign ‘o’ the Times.

Like @toddo — I think the first Prince single that I bought was “Delirious”. I only know that because I remember the b-side (“Horny Toad”).
