Well this is sad news... Mark Stewart of Pop Group has died. While I'm very influenced by punk, both British and US hardcore, the post-punk avant-funk dub of bands like Pop Group are at the core of my musical taste that was very much hammered into shape in the crucible of the early 80s London music scenes with all their diversity and where musical forms blended and mutated. I really got to experience a lot of amazing music of all different kinds (working in a second hand record store helped).

I've been thinking about the weirdest bands/musicians that I know. That is, of course, highly subjective.
One band that surely qualifies (and is among my all time favourites) is "Throbbing Gristle", very influential pioneers of industrial music. I would also nominate "The Pop Group" and "Einstürzende Neubauten". Who do you think should also be put on this list? I restricted myself to three nominees, which was quite hard
