I didn't latch the screen door to the porch all the way and the boy cat tried to push it open but it didn't work. He made such a sad meow.

He hasn't been allowed on the porch since he tried to sit on top of one of the mesh monarch cages and it collapsed under him (no caterpillars or chrysalides were damaged). Poor kitten.

I'm watching one of the large caterpillars chowing down on a leaf and a squirrel nearby is gnawing on something and it briefly confused me so I thought I was hearing the caterpillar chewing.

It is actually possible to hear the caterpillars chewing from very close by, but not from six feet away.

Porch life includes watching a myriad of bikes of different configurations going past (I live on a street designated as a bike alternative to a main street a couple of blocks over), the occasional dog walking by to keep Izzy vigilant, and listening to my next-building neighbors making silly noises at their toddler while swinging the child in a hammock.
