Our is a : The 2nd MP3 Player in the World, the Diamond Rio PMP300 (Sept 1998, after S.Korea’s MPMan in March) – the 1st commercially successful MP3 player.

The Rio provoked the 1st RIAA’s lawsuit trying to kill MP3s (they lost bc their suit was based on the misunderstanding that the Rio was a recording device).

Even after 25 years, our Rio still plays the (terrible) files on its built-in 32MB storage.

The Toshiba RT-8710S Stereo Radio/Cassette (1979) had a trick up its sleeve: you could pop the handle off, unlatch the speakers, and turn it into a spatial home stereo system (that could even be used as a receiver for your turntable)! This versatility, however, led to some design sacrifices – as the Radiomuseum.org photo of the device's rear end in the third image below testifies, it was pretty nice to look at as long as you didn't spin it around.
