Two lines of #RoyalNavy sailors provided a guard of honour for 102-year-old Lawrence #Churcher during a service in #Portchester, #Hampshire

Mr Churcher, who was born in #Portsmouth and died at a care home in #Fareham, landed in #France in May 1940, returning on a ship carrying rescued soldiers

He was awarded the Legion d'Honneur for his bravery - the HIGHEST order of merit in #France

It's not too warm, but it's bright, sunny, and we have a few decent walking routes near where we live in #Portsmouth so we've just been out for a couple of hours, up around the Tipner firing range and along part of the Pilgrim's Trail, camera in hand. Very pleasant, and nice views across the water to the oft-visited Portchester Castle. This is just a phone photo; I'll go through all my proper lichen and landscape pictures tomorrow.
