“ESA’s Navigation Directorate is planning a new satellite whose results will enable the generation of an updated global model of Earth – the International Terrestrial Reference Frame, employed for everything from land surveying to measuring sea level rise – with an accuracy down to 1 mm, while tracking ground motion of just 0.1 mm per year. This improvement, at a stroke, will have a major impact in multiple Navigation and Earth Science applications, including an enhancement on the precision of the Galileo navigation system. This mission, called GENESIS, is being proposed to ESA’s Council of Ministers in November 2022…”

There's been a bit of discussion recently around the potential development of a 'Lunar Timezone', in response to a new era of exploration and growth around our celestial companion.

I certainly think we need to cut the terrestrial umbilical cord of timekeeping away from Earth (this is hard) as we step out into the Solar System (be that humans or robots), but I am thinking bigger.

Instead of just a Lunar time zone, how can we build scalability and universality?

One time system to rule them all.

Thankfully, nature has given us just the tools ..... PULSARS.

4/4 Interestingly, that seems to be the thought in the case of Air India. Retain the legacy brand to dip into that perception, while trying to set things right on the ground using the experience of the newer, more positively perceived Vistara. Of course, there is the advantage of targetting the same space in the case of Air India - no change like Nokia (B2C to B2B).

I think about this Brené Brown quote often:

It's from her book, Daring Greatly, and is a good reminder that being an armchair critic (of anything) is not a great position to take.
