I saw a potoo!!!!
A nocturnal bird that eats insects. During the day, it pretends to be a dead branch. I have no idea how Alonso saw it in the distance, behind several layers of trees and even less idea on how I managed to get a decent photo.
Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica.

Potoos are a group of Caprimulgiformes birds related to the nightjars and frogmouths. They are sometimes called poor-me-ones, after their haunting calls. There are seven species in one genus, Nyctibius, in tropical Central and South America.
Much like owls, this species is nocturnal. They prey on large insects and small vertebrates, which they capture in sallies from high perches.
