We've been entrusted with the care of these plants while a student is back home for summer vacation. We almost failed with the lilac (?) by leaving in the direct sun for a day or two... The plants seem to be doing ok now though.

I just harvested a bunch of chicory from our yard (mostly along the side of the house), and I managed to get a taproot the length of my forearm!
However, despite it being evening, and shady on that side of the house, I overheated myself, so I will have to wait to wash the dirt off all the roots.
I also need to re-pot the plants that got blown off the porch in last week's storms, as well as water everyone thoroughly.

I feel like that when I see dying potted plants on people's front porches in suburban #Australia. Feel like leaving a note, "I'll leave you something better to put in this pot if you'll let me take this plant home and nurse it back to health."

I'm going to bring in the ginger that I'm trying to sprout and maybe the nopal cacti & diffenbachias. And I have 2 pretty purple/sage colored succulents. But even though it isn't supposed to get above freezing on Friday, I think I'll just cover my 60 or so aloe veras.2 layers of cover, and they're bunched together against the walls of my building. They'll be fine, right?

🪴Today is the day I move my shivering potted plants indoors. After an unseasonably warm autumn, night temps will reach freezing this weeekend here in Brooklyn. Most of them make the transition easily, but not so much the oxalis and lavenders. I wish I had a greenhouse to keep them cool…while I and the succulents stay warm and cozy inside. 🪴
