We saw the wonderful A Canterbury Tale at the Tyneside Cinema yesterday - It is such a beautiful film despite a couple of hitches (tech and then human)

1. the house lights coming on at every reel change.
2. the chap a couple of rows in front snoring extremely loudly for a few minutes during the film.

Home visiting dad, we're watching one of my top ten favourite films, A Matter of Life and Death while dinner cooks.

Powell & Pressburger, who made some of the most beautiful British movies ever filmed, so emotional, such wonderful cinematography.

Years ago we saw it screened, introduced by legendary Jack Cardiff, who lensed it all those decades before.

This film is full of so many wondrous moments.

A new favourite of mine is when two American airmen enter heaven and the First looks around agog, declaring, "Home wasn't nothing like this." The Second airman also takes in his new surroundings and replies quietly... "Mine was."
