Only this morning did I learn that #Powerball has a 10x (2, 3, 4, 5, 10). I play so seldom I don't think I've ever seen it, but I'll be playing it at ≧$1B from now on. This is how I budget. (Of course it shows up something like 3% of the time!)

Decided to only play the lottery (#Powerball & #Megamillions) when the gross jackpot is ≧$1B and its the 5x Megaplier, which comes up about 15% of the time. I'm greedy.

Which raises the interesting question, what is the distribution of #megapliers? One source has 3, 2, 4, and 5 as the range from most common to the least, but I wanna see #statistics. #Powerball #Megamillions

Nowadays I only play #Powerball (and now #Megamillions) when they get to the ridiculous amount of $1B (used to be $500M) and that at the putative beginning of the run. I always take the Megamultiplier, whatever it is, so $3... And thereafter only the 5x for the duration of said run. Because I'm greedy.

Well, since I didn't win the billion dollar #powerball I can now resume saying all billionaires should be made to spend their lives cleaning up hazardous waste sites.

Just read on @NPR that a lottery tickets for #PowerBall was sold giving the winner 1.08 Billion USD. That is just insane.

They should split the jackpot say at 500 million USD so they then will draw 2 winner tickets for half the amount each. 250 Million USD is still a shitload of money.

The Lottery is one of the most brazenly pathetic aspects of American life. The Powerball is supposedly $1 billion today. Of course, that's a lie; the real value is 'only' $517 million. I guess they figure that they can lie because people are not at all rational when it comes to the lottery -- somehow these huge jackpots entice people to play even though $1 million would be enough to drastically improve most people's lives...and for plenty of people even a few thousand would be enough to avert an emergency.

But no. We aren't satisfied with life-changing wealth. Instead, we give our money and attention to this fantasy of world-changing wealth, which will never come true, even if we win the jackpot.
