I found a monitor cable included. I still had a DB15 to VGA adapter. Now the #PowerBook540 has at least some color display in the amazing resolution of 800x600 pixels on the flat screen TV.

And here are the results from the German jury for the #PowerBook540 b/w display.
After 9 hours in the oven at approx. 85°C it looks much better. For the first 1/4 hr. the pic is great. It does slightly come back after a while, but at least you can still read something in these places after an hour of operation.
Before, these were deep black and you could only work in the middle.

OK, so here we go. I demounted the #PowerBook540 for "baking" the display. It's very different from all the videos I've watched about it. It doesn't have those metal rotating eyelets that release the display and that can also wear out.
Tested our cheap oven from a Swedish furniture house with a good digital barbecue thermometer. It's very exact with a negative offset. Only varies at 90°C in between 85-87°C.

In the moment I setting up the #PowerBook540 OS from scratch with 7.5. The bad news is that it suffers massively from the LCD tunnel effect. After half an hour it looks like a TV from the 60s. I'm wrestling with myself right now about trying the oven trick. Does anyone have experience with it?
