Well this will be interesting.
At 04:40 I was lying in bed, listening to the gentle rain when there was a big flash accompanied by a burst of mains hum from the direction of the HV distribution substation in the middle of town. The power went off.
I logged a call with #NationalGrid, but the telemetry had already picked it up. They estimate repair at 06:30
Ten minutes later they attempted restart, and we got power, and another burst of mains hum, for less than a second.
