Soooo...if you've considered reading #PracticalMagic but are at all sensitive to sexual harassment and assault, particularly of children, you might want to give it another thought.

The part I read earlier today has a 13-year-old girl being chased and graphically threatened by 2 men.

That's about the age I was sexually assaulted in a public park, so it's rough.

It's also an important truth and I think an effective scene, so I'm still reading. But it's a lot.

Talking about #PracticalMagic with my sister. Apparently she never watched the movie all the way through because it was too scary and she doesn't like "that kind of movie."

Which is weird because I've never thought of the movie as scary at all. It's one of my fluffiest lightest Fall movies.

But the book. The book is getting *spooky*.

I think I like it.

About halfway through the book now. I'm still irritated by the casual misogyny, particularly in the way the author describes...basically all the women in the book. Like their appearance is the most important thing to know about them and the biggest part of their lives, like men can't help but lust after them...it's fucking gross.

And what's worse is the *rest* of the book is so good. I'm tearing through it faster than I have in years. I just want it to be better.
