@axios AI can do some really amazing things, but AI can't do anything to detect hazards such as fires without people investing in an extensive, real-time connected, consistently maintained sensor network. Add to that the cost of computer power and maintenance and these amazing tools for saving life, livelihoods, and property run afoul of the same budgeting trouble as any other long term #infrastructure.
It would help if there was a completely separate reason to be placing the sensors or running the up links. For example, we gained a global seismograph network because of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. It just happened to be very useful for observing and learning about earthquakes. We could never have funded such global coverage and near-real-time data access (even before the internet!) if the earthquakes were the sole objective.

My S1s enjoyed investigating how concentration and particle size affect rates of reaction today.
Particularly when the calcium carbonate was added to the HCl and bubbled all the way up the test tube.
